Dorothy and Toto

Booty mo better. Easier day today on the bike, about 70 miles but mostly downhill and mucho tailwind. Left Unity at 9, and arrived here in Vale at about 3. We were doing about 24mph for the last 1 hour on flat terrain, and looking for drafting partners. And hit 44mph coming down off a hill called Brogan Hill. Laura is getting much more used to top speeds now and egging me on. When we hit town, after much discussion about whether to stay here or go on to Ontario, a storm system hit that came right out of the Wizard of Oz. We were looking for the wicked witch riding her bike about 20 feet over town. Didn't see her but about the time we could't stand still and hold the bike up, a guy named Russ came running out of his office to the rescue. Let us in his office, even big O, and let me use his computer to blog, which is where I now sit. We found a motel in town, but no internet, so we'll be out of touch, phone service is erratic. Appreciate all the comments, we'll try to make Boise tomorrow. When I get an Idaho map we'll plan the route to Wyoming. I'd better wrap up, he probably pays for this by the minute.

Hi Larry and Laura,

Glad to see you're still cruising along. My sister Kat and I enjoyed meeting you in Mitchell. I see you found the "shoe tree" on the way out of town! I wonder if that's a version of the "shoes over the utility lines" one sees in larger cities? We traveled through a few more interesting towns, too, on the way through Fossil, some seemingly on the verge of ghost-town status. Certainly a piece of Americana I've seldom seen. I'm sure you'll see much of that, too, on the rest of your journey. I look forward to following your trip via the blogspot. Thanks for sharing the experience! ~Teresa

Laura and Larry, I talked to the ATC's at BOI. They said you might try to bypass BOI and go from Ontario to Homedale to Grandview and then cut across via Mountain Home. I'm sure you can figure out what works for you. We are loving your blogs every day. Moira says hi. Good Luck!! Tim.

Larry and Laura,

Lot's of people are reading your blogs at work mostly because a couple of us were talking about it. When we get the chance we try and find your locations and destinations on the Atlas in the TRACON. One of the high points of the day. ED wanted to know if you could keep a running total of your miles ridden and put it on your blog. High entertainment value reading your adventures. Take care.

Hi Larry & Laura!
Just caught up on your blog. My "hat's off" to both of you. Sounds like you're getting into this routine, meeting interesting small town people, and seeing great sights. Keep it up and Larry; be sure to stay in the front seat.
All my best.
Susan S.
