Now that leaving the Tracon is imminent I'm getting quite a few inquiries about the blog. Welcome all who are interested, I'm going to try to keep it up on the trip even if I have to type from the the underside of an 18 wheeler that has me pinned. We have figured out how to post pics, I think, so expect those on most every blog. Have to do something to keep interest up. Laura, me, or both may be in various stages of undress. I'm about to go into shaved leg mode for the summer, getting ready by buying a few of those Venus razors that Michelle got me started on. No cuts with those!!!! Thanks Michelle, you've done wonders for my knobby knees. My ass is majorly sore from riding 40 miles last week, then again on Sunday. It really gets worked, or maybe it's cause Laura isn't pedaling. She always has liked to cause a p___ in my ass. Not really, if it wasn't for her pedaling that 50lb monster, it wouldn't move. I'm starting to wonder about our pace, doesn't seem like we can do more than about 13-14mph average, which could cause problems. Like 10 hour days on the bike. It's not like you can sprint on it. We may have to think about alternate routes. All part of the adventure hopefully. Any names for the bike yet? How about nicknames for the two idiots riding it? The 2 pics are for practice posting, showing all of the supplies and clothing, etc. we will carry for 3 months. Not much.

dang, you can only average 14 mph? that seems like it may be an issue.

is it just because it's so heavy? i guess it must be more than twice as heavy as a regular bike.

It's twice as heavy, without all of the supplies, and they add probably 10lbs. I should weigh the box when we leave. I thought it was like an 18 wheeler, now I'm thinking oil tanker. Full oil tanker.

Your blog sure looks good compared to mine -- I haven't gotten the hang of it yet and Tim is giving me pressure to get it up. Kudos!

Hi, Larry and Laura! Wow! What an exciting trip! It sounds like a thrill of a lifetime. Larry, glad to hear you are going to use the Venus razor, I love them! Laura, I liked your name for the bike, "Obi". Kind of like Obi-Wan Kenobi from Star Wars. You guys could call it Obi-Trans-America! If you guys need a place to stay in Bozeman, I have a great friend from high school that lives there with her husband and two kids. I was in their wedding out there in 1994 and she was in our wedding. I would be glad to ask them about it if you are interested. The kids are 11 and 9 and very well behaved. Just let me know! Looking forward to more information on where your route will take you! Take care and have fun! Michelle H.

Actually, Michelle gives me a good idea! I think you should post your route again (general cities, etc) so we can all brainstorm people for you to camp out with on your trek. T-minus 5 days! I can't believe it!!

Ok Dora, here goes the general route, from the coast, we go through Eugene, then east through Oregon. If we have time, we will head northwest up through Bozeman, then southeast through Yellowstone, Jackson Wyoming, and then southeast towards Laramie, turning south through Ft. Collins to Denver. We may have to cut off miles through Montana if weather or something else causes problems. We would really love to stay with anyone's friends, it will make the trip so much better. Any ideas let us know!
