Update

Started to ride the recumbent stationary bike at the athletic club downtown, in anticipation of getting a recumbent for the cross country trip. Don't like it as well as the upright, but have to start somewhere. I put an ad in a web based shop about looking for a tandem recumbent, hopefully I'll get someone who wants to sell one, the new ones are mega expensive. Looks like we're going with the plan to start in Oregon and end up in Wash. DC. More later.

You're going with a recumbent? Why, more comfortable over long, LONG distances? I can see how the seat might be more conducive to a cross-country trip.

Just a word of blog advice: a better title would be, say, "Riding recumbent style" or something to that effect. "Update" is a bit redundant ;)

OK, smartass, I hate to say it but you're right. Well, the recumbent allows the person in back, called the stoker, freedom to massage my shoulders any time I request it. That's basically the reason we're going recumbent.
